Today began quite early for me, around 2:00 a.m., when I unexpectedly woke up in the dark. I had planned to get up at 3:00 a.m. to start my drive to Lake Crescent. I knew the weather might not cooperate—it was supposed to rain, but there was a glimmer of hope from the forecasts about a break in the weather at 7:00 a.m.— and it was supposed to stop for about an hour, so that kept me motivated. I thought, “Why not give it a try?”
As I drove south around the sound and crossed the Narrows Bridge, I felt a sense of anticipation. The journey to Port Angeles and then out to the lake was also filled with anticipation, especially when I arrived just as the sky began to lighten. I didn’t take as many photos as I might have liked, but I was grateful for the chance to capture the clouds and the unique weather I had hoped for. I’d love to share some of these moments with you.
Here are some of the images I was able to capture in that brief window.
