A Nice Little Drive

I woke up early, grabbed my coffee and camera, and headed out. Driving up I-5 heading out to Northern State Recreation Area. I was heading out to a place I have been to several times, a place that always gives me something new. Jumping into my car, I cannot remember the last time I was in my car before 5 am, then a quick stop for gas, and then north.

When I got up there, it was still dark, which was perfect, but it was closed—at least the gates were, which was okay, so I figured I would return. I decided to waste some time looking for the elk herd that runs around there. Well, that didn't take long; what I thought were cows weren't. Continuing to drive side streets, I found other places that could provide opportunities to explore.

After stopping for a bite to eat and another couple of cups of coffee, I returned to the Northern State Recreation Area. It did not disappoint. I was bummed to see that some new sheets of plywood were put up, and a couple of big windows had been knocked out, and now the plywood doesn't give you the same views. I took a walk around the buildings, reacquainting myself with the layout, and with some of the new places knocked out, some new views were found. After a bit, I headed home; it was a good day.
